Hi,

I have just installed Guillotine and it looks very good.

However, the Outlook plugin does not seem to work properly. Whenever I search for a contact, it only finds it if I type the surname, not the first name. Then, hitting the TAB key, it does not complete the contact, and hitting on ENTER when a contact is selected does nothing.

Do you have the same behavior?

That is strange that it is not finding the contact by the surname, since it searches the first name, last name, and email address. Can you give me the first name and surname you are trying to match, as well as the text you are inputting? Also, in the Preferences->Searching tab, do you have "Searches are case sensitive" turned on or off?

Also, don't bother hitting the TAB key to auto-complete. Just arrow down to the contact that you want and hit ENTER. When doing that, it *should* open up a new email to the contact (if he/she has an email address). Otherwise, it will just open the contact. If this isn't happening for you, let me know. What version of Outlook are you using, btw? I use 2003.

The problem seems to raise when I search for a name AND its surname. Example: If I search for "Francisco P?rez" then the program shows nothing. However, if I search for "Francisco" then all Franciscos are shown, including "Francisco P?rez". Do you see the point?

Doing what you suggest does nothing for me. I use 2003, too (Spanish version).

Ahhh. I see what you are saying. Sorry.

So right now, Guillotine isn't splitting up the search string you type into individual parts (e.g. "Francisco" and "P?rez"), and searching for each one. It should do that though... I'll try and get a build out tonight that does that.

As for nothing happening when you select a contact, I'll add some logging code that will give you some feedback as to what is going wrong (which you can forward to me). When you hit Enter, does the result list go away? Or does is it just sit there?

Thanks,
D

Thanks for your reply.

Answering your question, hitting Enter leaves the list there, it does not disappear.

I am looking forward to the new build.

Hi Fran. I'm not going to be able to fix this until early next week. I've been swamped with (normal) work the past couple of days, and I'm heading out of town this weekend. I'll get it fixed as soon as I can though.

Sure. As long as it's not an ad.

Hi Dario,

Rgds,
Fran

I spent some time looking at both of these issues. The first one (searching for first AND surname) is going to be something I'm going to fix in a later version since it changes the searching algorithm a bit too much for my comfort now. The second item, I will try and get you a debug build tonight or tomorrow. If not, then by early next week (I know, I promised that last time Cheesy )

Thanks,

Hi Fran. The latest version Logs any errors in the Outlook plugin to a file in the Guillotine folder. Can you PM me the contents of that file?

Thanks,

Dario
